Sell Household Items Online

Spring cleaning is just around the corner. As a result of technology, there is a way to clean out your closet, basement, and garage while you make some extra money as well. Selling items online is not a brand-new phenomenon just like eBay dropshipping, but it is something to bear in mind while sorting through piles of obvious items. It may sound easy, but the truth is, most of us have no clue where to get started. What is holding us back? The initial step is to decide on selling.

Suba Lyer, a California based author for finance blog, Wealth Informatics, says that “all people are guilty of maintaining these things that we think we'll use – but we never actually do.”

She says the lack of urgency or instant need for money may be a factor to why selling and sorting is a low priority. Lyer's situation was much different: an earthquake warning in her residential area led her to begin selling.

But Lyer says it starts with a good business strategy before listing what to sell. Most don't have the instant need for cash that Lyer herself experienced, but knowing a few tips from the pros can conclude procrastination and help us begin.

The sorting process

“This is when you're actually needed to sort through items and decide if they're of use,” says Baker. “This process may take a couple weeks, depending upon how big your house is and how considerably you should get rid of.” Baker insists that this step be done from one room to another. Take items that may be sold to the workspace. Sort into products into listing piles by class or website then photograph them and list the items online.

“Whether you're looking to completely clear out your home and start from scratch as we did, or make a bunch of bucks cleaning a closet, there's a clear way to go about things,” Says Baker. She extremely recommends having a designated workspace at home so the project does not disrupt living space. “For us, it was the garage. We brought items in there to sort, photograph, list, and market. Walk throughout the home and grab everything that is in the way or things you know you do not use,” she says.

The selling process

“The best advice I could give is to sell a couple of things simultaneously,” says Courtney Baker, wife of Adam Baker from Man Vs. Debt. “You'd think it'd be simpler to find one thing and go throughout the process of selling it, but it is much more time intensive and discouraging that way,” she says. Baker considers herself a well-oiled machine with regards to selling crap. Like Lyer, the Baker's situation is something extreme since they liquidated almost anything they owned to pay off an enormous debt.

Megan Vickell, public relations director of eBay Canada, lays out a few helpful tips to apply to any on-line selling experience. One of her tips is to take plenty of photos. Baker says, in the selling process, a terrific way to gain momentum is by selling an item at that the start of the process. This could be accomplished in the first stage by selling the big obvious items.

What Is Retail Arbitrage

Sellers have found a way to provide shipping without paying a cent in what might be called arbitrage. Not only that, no stock is carried by the sellers, making their business risk free. Resellers have also discovered utilizing a retail arbitrage software which makes it easier for their business. Retail Arbitrage By definition, retail arbitrage is the act of reselling items that are already being sold in the market, however, for a higher price.
